OPCAT Text

This is the Text of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture and other Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment in accordance with a Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on the Fifty-seventh session [on the report of the Third Committee (A/57/556/Add.1)] It was adopted on December 18, 2002 and came into force on June 22, 2006. To date 56 states have signed the Protocol, while 32 have ratified or acceded to it.
